The Kittitas County Historical Museum is located in historic Downtown Ellensburg.

The lovely city was platted in 1875 at the intersection of two major trading routes and still remains today within access of major highways – I-90, US Hwy 97, and I-82.

With a variety of stores and restaurants, and numerous events and activities happening at Central Washington University and other cultural destinations in Kittitas County, our community offers quite the visitor experience.

Parking is only available on nearby public streets in front of and near the Museum for 3 hours Monday-Saturday. Parking is regularly enforced by the City of Ellensburg Police Department.

Tenant parking

Off-street parking is only available for Cadwell Apartments tenants. These reserved parking spaces are located immediately adjacent to the Museum.

Please leave all bags, packages, food, and drinks at the front desk. This will enable an easier opportunity to experience and explore the museum.

Group Tours
Our Museum is open for groups to self-guided tour through the Museum. If groups contact us in advance, we are happy to welcome groups and introduce them to the Museum before their self-guided tour. Unscheduled groups are permitted but risk availability.

Our Museum is a great place to bring the family, learn about local history, and share stories! We offer scavenger hunts, hands-on (touch) items, educational opportunities, and many ways to get engaged with local history. We also have a changing station in our public restroom.
