Field Trips & Group Visits
Visiting our Museum is great way for students and groups of all ages and types to learn more and engage with Kittitas County’s rich past and ever-changing present.
Classes and groups can experience and explore the Museum in a number of ways. It depends upon how much time is permitted for the visit to the Museum, and what the expected (and often educational) outcome is for the class or group’s visit.
Each field trip and group visit can also be customized to that class or group’s specific interests, whether it may be on a topic of local history or type of item in the Museum collection.

We offer:
- Self-guided field trips, where the group explores the Museum at their own pace. Museum Staff are happy to be available to answer any questions that the group may have. This can be provided with or without a scavenger hunt.
- Facilitated learning opportunities, where the group or class learns about local history in a way that meets educational standards. This is the standard option selected by local K-5 schools, and comes with a scavenger hunt. This option may also address specific topics versus the regular local history program.
- For middle school and high school classes and college level courses, we can provide a variety of learning opportunities to meet classroom or course needs. Whether discussing a local history topic more in-depth in a presentation-style format, or providing a guided tour throughout the museum, we are very happy to work with you to address your class or course needs.
- Scavenger hunts and other supplemental educational activities can also be crafted specific to your class or group needs! If you are interested in this option, please contact us at least one (1) month in advance of your visit so we can do our best to accommodate.
- Group visit experiences can be crafted to the specific group interests and needs. If you are interested in bringing your group (no age limit!) to the Museum, we ask that you contact us at least one (1) month in advance of your visit so we can do our best to accommodate.
Museum Hours for Field Trips and Group Visits
Field trips are typically scheduled during the regular Museum hours of Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
If you would like to schedule a visit to our Museum outside of these hours for your class or group, please contact us to learn how we might be able to accommodate your needs.
Cost for Field Trips and Group Visits
Field trip opportunities are provided to all classes, groups, and organizations free of charge. Donations are greatly appreciated.
Chaperones for Field Trips
We ask that any K-8 class, or equivalent age group, have an adequate number of chaperones to youths in the group, especially when participating in the scavenger hunt. Our recommendation is 1 chaperone per every 5 students/attendees.

If you’re interested in your class or group visit the Museum, please contact us today!
We ask that any interested class or group contact us at least two (2) weeks prior to their visit if possible so we can provide the best experience. The exception to this is if the class or group would like to have a customized scavenger hunt or learning experience, then we ask for at least one (1) month notice to accommodate the request.
Classes and groups are still welcome to visit without as much notice to tour the Museum on a self-guided field trip basis. Museum Staff might be available to greet the group, but may not be able to provide supplemental educational activities to their experience.
Please contact us for more information or to get signed up for a field trip or a group visit.
