Field Trips

Field trips are great for students, summer camps, and youth organizations that would like to learn more and engage with Kittitas County’s rich past and evolving present. The Museum is suitable for all age groups, from elementary school students through adults.

There are a number of ways for groups to experience and explore the Museum, depending on the time allotted for the trip and the needs of that particular group’s visit.

We offer:

  • Self-guided field trips, where the group explores the Museum at their own pace. Museum Staff are happy to be available to answer any questions that the group may have.
  • Facilitated learning experiences, where the group or class learns about local history in a way that meets educational standards. This experience may instead be focused on a specialized topic depending on class needs. Please note, this is our traditional class offering for K-5 which offers a scavenger hunt as well.
  • For middle school and high school classes and college level courses, we can provide an experience geared toward a specialized topic with or without a guided tour.
  • Scavenger hunts and other supplemental educational activities can also be developed upon request.

Field trips are typically scheduled during the regular Museum hours of Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. If alternative hours are needed for your class or group, please contact us to learn how we might be able to accommodate your needs.

While field trip opportunities are provided to all classes, groups, and organizations free of charge, we greatly appreciate donations.

If you are bringing a K-8 class, or equivalent age group, for a field trip, we do request that there be an adequate number of chaperones to youths in the group, especially when participating in the scavenger hunt. Our recommendation is 1 chaperone per every 5 students/attendees.

If you are an educator, summer camp leader, club leader, etc., and would like to learn more or schedule a field trip, please contact us.
