📚 Information & Research Requests

The Kittitas County Historical Museum is home to thousands of artifacts, photographs, and archival records. We regularly assist researchers, genealogists, and curious minds looking to explore the rich history of Kittitas County.

Whether you’re researching a family name, historic property, or local event, we’re happy to help—when we’re able. Due to high demand, we are not accepting new research requests at this time. We are currently working through a backlog of over 100 open inquiries.

Have an urgent request? We may be able to assist depending on staff availability and the need-by date. Please contact us with details.

📝 Submitting a Request

When research services resume, we encourage detailed submissions. The more information you provide, the more effectively we can assist. Helpful details include:

  • For family research: names, dates of birth/death, and locations
  • For property research: address, nearby crossroads, or GPS coordinates
  • Any known background or prior sources (such as Ancestry.com)

Requests may be submitted by email, phone, or mail. A downloadable request form will be available here when we reopen submissions.

🔍 On-Site Research

On-site research is available by appointment only, with advance notice required. Please note: the Museum’s archives and storage areas are not open to the public—staff will retrieve materials for you.

If you’d like to schedule a visit, contact us in advance so we can ensure availability and prepare resources ahead of your appointment.
