Volunteer or intern

How to Get Started

If you are interested in volunteering, exploring an internship, or being considered for community service placement, please review the information provided within each section and complete the appropriate application form.

Fillable forms are provided within the relevant section for your convenience. Forms are also available in person at the Museum upon request.

Because each opportunity serves a different purpose, application materials and next steps may vary. Please use the form or process connected to the specific opportunity you are seeking.

Due to the Museum’s limited staff capacity and project availability, not all applicants can be placed. We will follow up as we are able and when an appropriate opportunity is available.

Volunteer

Volunteers are individuals who choose to give their time freely in support of the Museum’s mission.

Volunteer service is not required and is typically ongoing, flexible, and shaped around individual interests and availability.

This is different from community service or job shadowing, which are structured, time-bound, and often required by a school, court, or program.

To express interest, please complete the Volunteer Application Form below. Forms are also available in person at the Museum upon request.

We will follow up as opportunities become available.

Internships

Internships are structured learning experiences intended for students or emerging professionals seeking hands-on experience in a museum setting.

These opportunities are typically more formal than volunteer service and may be arranged in coordination with a college, university, or educational program. Internships are often project-based, supervised, and developed around specific learning goals.

Availability varies depending on staff capacity and current projects.

To be considered, please complete the Internship Inquiry Form below. Forms are also available in person at the Museum upon request.

We will follow up if an appropriate opportunity is available.

Community Service

Community service includes court-ordered hours, school or class requirements, and job shadowing experiences that must be completed within a defined time frame.

This is different from volunteering, which is freely given and ongoing.

The Kittitas County Historical Museum is an approved site for individuals needing to complete required or structured hours.

As a small museum with limited staff capacity and project availability, we are not able to place all applicants, and opportunities may be limited.

To be considered, please complete the Community Service Application Form below. Forms are also available in person at the Museum upon request.

We will follow up only if a placement becomes available. We are unable to provide placement timelines or status updates.
