Volunteer or intern
Paid Internship Available!
We invite students and recent graduates of collegiate programs to apply for our Diversity in Local History (DLH) internship. This paid internship is funded through a Diversity in Local History grant from Washington State Historical Society for 655 project hours at the rate of $22 per hour through June 30, 2025. It is primarily onsite here in Ellensburg.
The selected intern will be working with the Ida Nason Aronica Collection of beadwork and basketry (K’tɨ́taas), in cataloging the collection for record completeness (to identify any lack of catalog record or digital record); and then to collect and transcribe oral histories related to family and friends of Ida Nason Aronica who might help provide a deeper connection, history, and story to the items held in our cultural custody, as well as collecting the stories and history of any local Indigenous elders the family coordinates with us. From there, with permission of the interviewees and family, we will update our records and create soundbites for use in our exhibits and displays.
This internship has been fully coordinated with and approved by the Ida Nason Aronica family as well.

Internships are through a prearranged, structured learning experience scheduled within a specific time frame. The experience must be relevant to the intern’s academic and professional goals, and to research and museum activities of the museum.
An internship is performed under the direct supervision of museum staff, and usually is arranged individually.
These experiences are unpaid unless identified otherwise.
