Permanent Exhibits
Our Museum is honored to have in its collection and on display many items from individuals who served our country and have been a part of Kittitas County. These items include uniforms, medals, letters, photographs, souvenirs, and more.
Our Military Room itself is a dedicated permanent exhibition of many of these items, and honors many of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. It also tells many individual stories and snapshots of local life in the service.
Within the Military Room are displays that span service from the U.S. Civil War through present-day conflicts, while larger items include both an airport beacon that was installed at the Ellensburg Air Base (now Bowers Field) during World War II and a 1945 Willy’s Jeep that had been used locally. Other displays focus on civil service, community support, and much more.
Please note that displays change frequently to enable the many items to be displayed as well as the items to be properly preserved. If there is something you are very interested in seeing, please fill out a research request and we will make a special appointment for you to see the item. Join us on October 22nd from 5pm to 8pm, as we share Ellensburg’s interesting, colorful, and often mysterious past in a fun and entertaining way. With a night full of saloons and salacious stories, this event is great for both those new to Ellensburg and long-time residents.

The Museum is home to a very unique collection of antique automobiles. This display showcases six automobiles ranging from an 1899 Mobile Steam Runabout Dos-a-Dos to a 1923 Ford Model T Speedster.

This exhibit covers the history of many of those local institutions, from general and maternal hospitals, medical offices, and dentists through veterinarians, eye care professionals, and funeral parlors.
